ALV English since 1992
Classroom Learning:
Students master essential vocabulary and phrases through engaging English lessons designed to immerse them in real-life scenarios. Key English skills for shopping include asking about product locations, inquiring about specifications and styles, asking about prices and functions, discussing payment options, and understanding refund and exchange policies. Through face-to-face English communication, students first learn shopping and ordering vocabulary, then apply their knowledge in carefully designed role-playing activities. This structured approach helps them smoothly transition into English learning, stay engaged with interesting content, and build confidence in speaking English!
Practice:
This activity provides students with opportunities to use interactive language through role-playing. The ALV ACADEMY Situational Teaching Method creates a dynamic classroom environment where students engage in task-based learning. Some students are assigned roles as consumers, while others act as store owners. Using pre-designed task cards, they carry out conversations and complete assigned tasks. Different groups rotate through various roles and task scenarios until all students have participated. The foreign teacher facilitates the activity by grouping students and encouraging them to discuss any challenges they encounter. During the exercise, the teacher responds with engaging conversations, corrects expressions, and provides guidance to enhance learning.
Use:
Students practice English in real-life scenarios, developing both their language skills and self-confidence. In the Philippines, shopping and ordering food are more than just transactions—they are immersive experiences. Students eagerly anticipate the opportunity to engage in authentic shopping and dining situations. Each group is guided by Filipino teaching assistants who follow specific task instructions to ensure students actively use English in practical settings. By experiencing the joy of communicating in English within a local environment, students truly achieve the "Learn by Doing" approach, maximizing both learning and enjoyment.
Now, it's time for hands-on learning—let’s go shopping!
